In December, Wild Orchid hosted our 2nd Holiday Charity Party with Lipstick Sister. Lipstick Sister is a women’s empowerment group in which women support each other in their endeavors, and together, work to be the positive change and impacting difference in the world.

At this event, we reviewed Wild Orchid’s projects in fruition, and the direct results of Lipstick Sister’s collaboration and support. In the 2017 Holiday Event, Lipstick Sister Erica Lippy, suggested that we inaugurate a library for Filipino students. Due of the generosity of Lipstick Sister, Turning Point School, Good Shepherd School, Cathedral Chapel School and other individual donors; we sent over 1,000 books to The Philippines in LBC Balikbayan Boxes.  Upland Elementary School now has a full library and 2 other schools are “growing their libraries.”

We also had a few speakers: Wild Orchid Vice President: Alberto; Wild Orchid Member and Chairperson, Guy Sharma and Lipstick Sister, Kelly Christopher Moran.  After our speakers, we were presented with a Filipino Cultural Presentation of music, dance and spoken word by performing company, A Stage of Our Own: director Toni Temehana Pasion, with Veronica Mercado and Leilani Banday.  The performers graced our evening and brought blessings to our space. We also enjoyed delicious  cuisine, provided by Castillillas C&T, a family owned business, managed by chefs: Isaias Castillas and Becky Garcia.

We are grateful to Lipstick Sister, for your ongoing donations and support. Thank you to the  Wild Orchid Team for all your input and stories. Daghan Salamat to A Stage of Our Own, for your artistry and expertise. And muchísimas gracias, Castillillas C&T for all your care, and service in making our events top notch. You have all made a difference in touching the lives of others, who are deeply grateful for your love.
